Intermediate Claims Specialist (Life)

Role summary

Guided by strategy and policies, responsible for handling claims, which may be escalated to management as appropriate, while adhering to fair claims practices. Responsibilities include evaluating coverage, documenting files & medical records related to claims, working with investigators, and participating in the resolution of claims. Depending on the type of claim, may conduct telephone interviews, correspondence, or in-person inspections with parties involved (such as customers, agents, family members, beneficiaries, attorneys, doctors) to resolve claims. Collaborates and manages relationships with both internal resources such as investigators, inside counsel, as well as external resources, such as agencies, insureds, claimants, outside counsel and other parties, while ensuring high customer satisfaction. Must have strong negotiation skills and a background in legal and insurance concepts required for the resolution of claims. Must have strong computer and documentation skills.
